Charming 30-hour
English oak cottage clock
by Charles Watts, Stamford, Lincolnshire

Small and well proportioned, the case is of straight-grained oak with
an arched trunk door that nicely offsets the 10" square brass dial,
which is engraved with
the type of early 18th century floral and basket motifs found in bracket
and lantern clocks. Watts'
iron-posted 30-hour movement is of an early design, with the watch train
directly in front of the striking train.
Circa 1740-1750
